Leading representatives from some of the region’s key construction companies met today at a special round table briefing event, hosted by MEED, to debate the future of the construction industry. Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahim, CEO, Hydra Properties; Jasim Al Damaki, MD, ADCP (Abu Dhabi Commercial Properties); Dennis O’Connor, CEO, ADCP; and Victor EJ Orth Jr, CEO & GM, Al Qudra Real Estate spoke at the event and on the conference topic ‘Risk vs. Opportunity’.
They provided valuable insights into some of the major issues that are to be further examined at the upcoming MEED Arabian World Construction Summit on 11 and 12 February 2008. The two-day event at Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace will look in more depth at how wider global markets trends could impact the industry here in the Gulf, whether the region’s current levels of growth are sustainable and will include a review of the 2008 construction outlook for the region.
Edmund O’Sullivan, Chairman, MEED Events said: “Representatives from amongst the leading construction companies in the UAE met today to discuss some of the pressing issues affecting their industry in the Arab world. Areas discussed included the mitigation of risk in construction and how this reflects on their businesses; the economic climate for construction in 2008 and whether opportunities at home or abroad were more attractive for future growth.”
