MotorCity speed up construction with milestone

Union Properties PJSC (UP), one of the United Arab Emirates leading property developers has reached a milestone today at a “Topping Out Ceremony” by finishing the last remaining structural concrete slab on Area One of the two construction areas of UPTOWN MotorCity that is contracted to Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke LLC. Located on Emirates Road, the development is a component of UP’s unique MotorCity project that includes the Dubai Autodrome, F1X Dubai, Business Park MotorCity and Green Community MotorCity.

“Looking at the entire MotorCity site from the top of UPTOWN MotorCity is a reflection of the timely progression of the construction of the project that is racing towards completion in 2009,” said Simon E. Azzam, Chief Executive Officer, UP. “The time, talent and coordination that go into constructing a project of this magnitude is truly remarkable and all parties involved have shown real dedication in construction and management of MotorCity, while placing high importance on safety for those working on the project.”

Ben Nicol, Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke Project Leader added, “It is always a momentous occasion to complete the structure on any project, and reaching this milestone at MotorCity Area 1 ahead of schedule is testimony to the efforts of the entire project team, and is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when a Client adopts a collaborative teamworking type approach and involves a contractor early into the procurement process.”

UPTOWN MotorCity is a freehold master-planned neighbourhood with amenities, schools, swimming pools, park areas, play areas, sports facilities and retail outlets. This component of MotorCity features a variety of studios, one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments.

The ceremony was attended by; Simon E. Azzam, Chief Executive Officer, UP; Norman Haste, Chief Operating Officer, Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke; Elias Adas, Chief Construction Officer, UP; Zuhdi Al-Rai, Project Director, EDARA; Callum Tuckett, Commercial Director; Russell Kellett, Operations Director; Phil Alcock, Construction Director and Ben Nicol, Project Leader for Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke.

“In addition to the already operational Dubai Autodrome, over the next year, MotorCity will see the completion of all its project components; residential units of UPTOWN MotorCity and Green Community MotorCity, Business Park MotorCity and F1X Dubai,” added Azzam.
