UAE soon to be home for International Cricket

The gathering of ICC, which begins today, will spend a week discussing a number of key topics for the sport, with the Annual Conference taking place on Friday.

Dubai Sports City is being considered as a potential destination for a number of high profile international matches, particularly given the potential for using its geographic location to bring together cricket enthusiasts from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

U. Balasubramaniam, CEO, Dubai Sports City said:
‘The Dubai Sports City cricket stadium, which is set to be ready by the end of the year, will be among the most advanced in the world, with next-generation facilities for players, officials, VIPs, spectators and the media. Together with the ICC Global Cricket Academy and other cricket facilities, it will add tremendous impetus to the sport.’

ICC Board members will be taken on a tour of the new facilities at Dubai Sports City, including the 25,000 seat cricket stadium, the ICC Global Cricket Academy and the future ICC headquarters building on Tuesday.

‘After many years of careful planning and construction, we are now looking forward to seeing the stadium full with passionate supporters, watching the best cricket in the world,’ said Macky Dudhia, General Manager, Sports Business, Dubai Sports City.
