Dubai Maritime City construction proceeding as planned

Dubai Maritime City, one of the world’s largest comprehensive maritime complexes, has announced that the project is progressing according to plan.
To date, 94 percent of the reclamation work is completed, the ground improvements are 40 percent complete, and the master plan is being reviewed and revised. It is evident that Dubai Maritime City is making tremendous leaps forward towards achieving its unique vision according to schedule, and beyond all expectations.
Meanwhile, 765 pre-cast concrete blocks have been cast to date for the Quay Wall. These are laid at an extraordinary pace of 40 to 50 blocks per day. The Quay Wall construction is going according to plan, and the placing of the concrete foundation will allow for the beginning of the final phase.
The ship lift assembly will begin on time in the first quarter of 2007, with the preparatory construction of the ship lift platform to start this October. Finally, the breakwater construction is near completion and is expected to be finished by the end of July, and the reclamation work is also progressing according to plan.
Amer Ali, project manager of Dubai Maritime City, said ‘We are very pleased with the impressive pace of construction, and an effort of this caliber will definitely result in the completion of the project within the agreed timelines. The response to Dubai Maritime City has already been phenomenal and we are eager to begin full-fledged operations at the earliest.’
When completed, Dubai Maritime City will serve as the world’s most comprehensive maritime complex located on 216 hectare manmade peninsula between Port Rashid and the Dubai Dry Docks, and surrounded by the waters of the Arabian Gulf.
