Operations on Al Fattan Tower in JBR commence
- August 1, 2006, 8:22 pm
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) today announced a new phase in its operations on Al Fattan Tower, the first Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) tower to be connected to an Empower district cooling plant.
Empower has been providing its energy-efficient energy solutions to the tower since April 2005 with a temporary plant, supplying it with 4100 Refrigeration Tons (RT).
‘We are pleased to be entering a new phase in our partnership with Empower, which represents a significant added-value service to both our community and business reflected in its reliable, clean and cost-efficient power,’ said Salah Aziz, Projects Development Director of Al Fattan Properties L.L.C
This is the latest of several mega projects for which Empower is providing its reliable district cooling service, proven to be considerably more cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly than air-cooled chiller systems. To date, Empower has signed contracts with Dubai Health Care City, Dubai International Financial Centre, Business Bay, City of Arabia and IMPZ, to supply a total of 886,000 RT over the next 25 years.
‘Empower once again finds itself in a privileged position, partnering with yet another mega-project in Dubai which stands as one of the biggest and most prestigious,’ said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower. ‘Our relationship with JBR is yet another testament to the business community’s confidence in our expertise and in our ability to provide energy-efficient solutions both professionally and reliably.’
In addition to energy-efficient solutions, Empower’s contributions present environmentally-friendly alternatives as well, an element figuring prominently in the district cooling provider’s mission and strategy.
Empower was formed in December, 2003 as a joint venture between the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
