Real estate leaders from 23 countries met together

Real estate leaders from across 23 countries including China, Russia, India and USA today came together at Building Tall, forum organised by MEED Conferences to discuss the various aspects of designing and building tall structures and how to turn them into a successful business enterprise.
During the keynote address Greg Sang, Executive Director, Projects, EMAAR Properties said ‘In order to create a signature structure it is of utmost importance that besides commercial viability, design elements are compatible with challenges of gravity, high wind velocities, soaring summer temperatures, seismic disturbances, fire etc’
In agreement, Edmund O’Sullivan, conference chairman and editorial director of MEED, said, ‘Designing and engineering landmark structures requires a particular expertise, visionary thinking, and new ways of overcoming practical challenges.’
‘We must be alert of all possible scenarios in order to manage a successful, multi-faceted building process, and to later ensure an accurate, sustainable build-to-lifestyle outcome,’ he added.
O’Sullivan also stressed that with the high-rise culture pushing the limits of innovation within the Middle East and internationally, it is very important to deliver an optimal design for tall towers.
Speaking of the world’s tallest tower The Burj Dubai, Greg Sang said, ‘The project capitalizes on the latest advances in wind and structural engineering, construction equipment, materials and modern building techniques. On completion it will feature the exclusive Armani Hotel, corporate and residential suites, an observatory and entertainment and recreational facilities. Making it the perfect balance of design, and commercial viability.’
Building Tall forum which runs for two days is an opportunity to address the issues around what makes a safe, effective yet iconic structure, and how to turn it into a successful business enterprise.
The impressive line-up of both regional and international players taking part in the event spans across 23 countries including China, Russia, India and USA.
In addition to Emaar’s Sang, top speakers include, the ‘near-celebrity’ architect, Hazel Wong, who designed Emirates Towers in Dubai, and many other specialists from the regions leading enterprises involved in shaping the way modern Middle Eastern cities will look like in the future.
